Wolves still in the race

Workmens Club under 18s were edged out by Orange CYMS 20-12 on Saturday, but luckily they are still only one point out of the five due to the loss of the Bathurst Panthers.

Coach Graeme Osborne was disappointed with their effort saying: “We trained like world beaters during the week, but on game day just did not aim up.

“We failed to complete our sets early in the match, something we have been doing well of late, but you just can’t give your opposition too much ball to play with.

“We now have to take on competition leaders Cowra on Sunday in a game that we must win.”

There were a number of good performers for the Wolves with the standouts being Steve Dellabosca, Steve Hughes, Aaron Christie-Johnson and the consistent Joel O’Brien who played in all three grades on the day.

A depleted Workmens Club reserve grade side had to be propped up with under 18s and although giving their best were well beaten 64-12.

Matt Whitney again was one of their best while young Ben Hatton had a good game in the senior grade.
