Ropes will be swishing and children will be singing as The Heart Foundation Jump Rope For Heart will attempt to break a Guinness World Record, currently held by the United Kingdom, as a part to help celebrate their 25th Birthday.
St Patricks Primary School will be one the 180 schools across NSW, and one of the two schools that are participating in the Blue Mountains Region, to participate in this World record attempt tomorrow.
Starting at 11.30 am children from all over the State will attempt to break the record for skipping is a unique chance for these children.
The attempt to break the United Kingdom’s record of a little under 8000 participants skipping at various locations for three minutes, with intervals of no longer than 10 seconds, will be the biggest ever skipping event ever to be held in Australia.
St Patricks Primary School’s Jump Rope For Heart Coordinator, Rebecca Flynn said the school has been involved in the program for at least six years, “to promote good health, a healthy heart and to help heart research.
“The program benefits children as well as others in the community.
“All the children have really loved to skip in the playground, even children who would have previously sat down during physical play.
“Children also gain a better awareness of healthy eating.”
Heart Foundation Chief Executive Officer for New South Wales, Tony Thirwell said this event will be a unique opportunity for school children to make history.
“We’re expecting more than 29,000 students across NSW to take part in the attempt to beat the current record.
“We want this to be the biggest skipping event ever.”
